 Why Can’t I Register My Eye-Fi Card?

Print

Possible reasons for not being able to register your Eye-Fi Card may include:

  • The Eye-Fi Card is already registered
  • The Eye-Fi Manager may not recognize an Eye-Fi Card is inserted
  • You may not have a default web browser set

To determine if your Eye-Fi Card is already registered, ensure that the Eye-Fi Manager is running and plug the Eye-Fi Card into the USB card reader and the USB card reader into a USB port directly on your computer.

Click once on the Eye-Fi Manager icon in either your Apple Menu Bar or Windows System Tray and you will see the MAC address of the Eye-Fi Card beginning with 00-18-56.  There are six more numbers followed by (registered) or (unregistered).

If it shows (registered) you may want to return the Eye-Fi Card from the point of purchase and exchange it for a new one. If you purchased a used Eye-Fi Card, please get in contact with the seller and send them the link to Gifting or buying a used Eye-Fi Card.

If you do not see the MAC address of the Eye-Fi Card, but it is mounting as a drive on your computer, please refer to What do I do if the Eye-Fi Manager doesn’t recognize my card? for more assistance.

If you can see the MAC address and it says (unregistered) that is a sign that your computer does not have a default browser set. Make sure to open your internet browser and find the settings to make this your default browser. If you discover that the browser was not set to default, make it default, remove the Eye-Fi Card for 10 seconds and then re-insert the Eye-Fi Card. Your browser will automatically launch the Eye-Fi Registration Screen.
