Known Issues with Nikon Cameras

Nikon D90

We are working with Nikon to get to the bottom of several issues that have been reported with regards to Eye-Fi Cards and Nikon D90 interoperability.

  • The camera will occasionally display the following message at startup: “Eye-Fi upload could not be disabled. The card is still transmitting and pictures may be uploaded.” This message may appear even though the “Eye-Fi upload” menu has not been used to disable the card.
  • In rare cases, the above message is accompanied by a “CHA” indication on the top LCD and the card must be reformatted to be used.

Customers experiencing this issue should contact Eye-Fi Customer Care so we can work directly with you while we continue to investigate the problem.

Nikon CoolPix L11

The Nikon Coolpix L11 exhibits audible static or noise during video playback. This is caused by electrical noise coupling into the audio circuitry when video is recorded. More information about this issue is available in Audible static/noise in videos when using an Eye-Fi Card

Nikon D40/40x

The ideal settings to make your Eye-Fi Card most effective with the Nikon D40 and D40x are described here. Eye-Fi suggests setting the camera "Auto Meter Off" setting to 30 minutes which provides adequate time for wireless transfers to complete.

Due to a firmware issue specific to how these cameras manage power, the suggested power settings will be ignored once a photo is taken. The camera firmware for the Nikon D40 and D40x overrides the power settings and defaults to a 4 second image review setting once a picture is taken. Because the image review setting is automatically adjusted, the camera then cuts power to the SD card slot effectively disabling Eye-Fi Card transfers. To revert the camera to the desired 30 minutes "Auto Meter Off" setting , turn your camera “off” & “on” again for wireless uploads to continue.
