How do I set up notifications?

Print

Ever wondered how you’ll know when your Eye-Fi card does its magic? You can always go to manager.eye.fi to see your latest uploads… but what if there was a simpler way… one where you could get notified when the upload has started, finished, or any step in between? Take a guess – yes, that is now possible! And here’s the step-by-step explanation of how to enable your email, text message or Twitter notification (notifications are only supported for web uploads):

1. To get set up, click the settings tab and choose the “change” link next to “Notifications”.

2. Now you can then tell your Eye-Fi card where to send your notifications. Choose from email, Twitter, and phone via SMS text messages.

3. For email and SMS text message notifications, Eye-Fi will send you a message with a code for verification. Enter the code to finish the setup.

Tip: If you have elected to have email notifications, make sure you check that emails from “notes@ eye.fi” do not get routed to your spam folder.

For Twitter, simply enter your username and password. (Don’t know about Twitter? You can read more about it in this post)

Tip: You can fully customize the text of your Twitter notifications (within 140 characters!). If you want content to change with each upload, you can add the suggested shortcuts, such as %L, which will automatically fill in the link created (where others will be able to see the photos). Eg: http://www.flickr.com/EyeFiCard/name_of_album_you_chose

4. Check your notifications preferences: you can be notified when the upload has started, has been interrupted, when the upload resumes, when the upload is complete. You choose!

5. That’s it! How’s that for convenience? Now go take some more photos and videos!
