“Cannot create folder” – Canon Digital Rebel XSi/EOS 450D

Issue:
A “Cannot create folder” message is displayed when an Eye-Fi Card is inserted in an Canon Digital Rebel XSi/EOS 450D.

Reason:
A bug in the Digital Rebel XSi/EOS 450D firmware prevents the camera from reading data on the Eye-Fi Card

Solution:
Canon has released a firmware update that addresses this as well as other non Eye-Fi related problems.

1. Download and install Firmware version 1.1.0 to prevent the error message described. Instructions and links for downloading and installing the version 1.1.0 fimware update are available in EOS REBEL XSi / 450D Firmware Update Version 1.1.0.
2. Once you update your firmware per Canon’s instructions it is a good idea to format your Eye-Fi Card in the Canon Digital Rebel XSi/EOS 450D prior to use.

NOTE: If you see the “Cannot create folder” in other Canon cameras, try formatting the card in your camera.
